The Fender American Special Stratocaster HSS is a USA-made electric guitar produced from 2010 to 2018, designed to provide high-end American craftsmanship at an affordable price. It features an HSS pickup configuration (two single coils and a bridge humbucker) alongside modern hardware and Fender’s unique Greasebucket tone circuit .
Core Features & Specifications
- Body & Neck: Alder body with a gloss polyurethane finish and a maple neck (or rosewood, depending on the year) featuring a modern “C” shape and 22 jumbo frets. It is easily recognizable by its large ’70s-style headstock.
- Pickups: Equipped with an Atomic humbucker in the bridge position for high-output, full-bodied lead tones. The middle and neck positions feature Texas Special single coils known for their crisp highs, punchy mids, and warm, bluesy output .
- Hardware: Features standard Fender cast/sealed tuners and a Vintage-Style Synchronized Tremolo .
- Electronics: Includes Fender’s Greasebucket tone circuit, which allows you to roll off the high frequencies without adding bass or muddiness, retaining clarity .
